How to Transfer Your Care to AuDHD Psychiatry

1.

Book Your Care Review

Schedule your first consultation with one of our clinicians. During this session, we’ll review your history, confirm your diagnosis, and plan your treatment pathway

2.

Provide Your Diagnosis Report

Upload your existing ADHD assessment report securely through our patient platform. This allows us to verify your diagnosis and tailor your care.

3.

Start or Continue Medication

Start treatment with us, whether that means beginning a new titration process or continuing your current prescription. We’ll provide ongoing reviews, adjustments, and support as needed.

What Documents Should I Provide?

Before your consultation, we’ll get in touch to collect a few important documents and questionnaires. This ensures that your clinician has a full understanding of your current needs and history, and can make the most of your appointment time.

You don’t need to worry about pulling everything together right now—we’ll guide you through it step by step. Here’s what we typically ask for:

Submission Checklist

Submission Checklist

  • Your Existing ADHD Diagnosis Report

A copy of your original ADHD assessment report from a qualified specialist. This should meet the standards outlined in the NICE clinical guidelines.

  • Any Past Rating Scales or Questionnaires (if available)

These may include self-report forms or feedback previously submitted to your diagnosing specialist.

  • New ADHD & Health Questionnaires

We’ll send you forms to complete, covering your current symptoms, mental and physical health, medication, and any other relevant background.

  • Personal Identification

A standard form of ID such as a passport or driving licence, to help us confirm your identity and protect your privacy.

  • Optional Supporting Information

If there’s anything else you’d like us to see—previous care notes, therapy summaries, or simply something you think is important—you’re welcome to share that too.

NICE Guidelines For Assessment And Diagnosis

At AuDHD Psychiatry, we strictly follow the NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) guidelines when it comes to recognising and managing ADHD. These standards ensure every diagnosis is reliable, evidence-based, and in line with best practices used across the UK.

If your previous ADHD diagnosis was made without meeting these criteria—for example, if it lacked a structured assessment process, did not involve appropriate rating scales, or did not follow clinical protocols—we may not be able to transfer your care directly.

In such cases, we’ll always discuss it with you first, and where necessary, recommend a full reassessment to ensure we can provide you with the highest standard of ongoing support.

You and your clinician will decide together which options best suit your needs and preferences.

Our Ethos And What Makes Us Different

We believe people with ADHD thrive when supported in the right way—and we’ve built our service around that belief.

Here’s how we’re different from other providers:

  • No hidden fees: Our prices are clear and inclusive. We don’t charge extra for reports, communication with schools or workplaces, or follow-up emails.
  • No membership or admin fees: We don’t lock you into contracts or subscriptions.
  • Whole-of-life care: Once you’ve been seen by our team, you’re always welcome back—whether it’s months or years down the line.
  • Personal approach: We’re a clinician-led service that prioritises relationships, continuity, and trust over volume or scale.

We’re here to support you for the long run, not just the handover.

What to expect from the Appointment?

You’ll meet a prescribing clinician for a 45–60 minute review (video or in-clinic). We’ll go through your history, current/previous medication, goals and any concerns to ensure we have full clinical oversight. Please have your recent blood pressure, pulse, height and weight to hand.
Fee (Transfer of Care consultation): £475.

Before your appointment we review your diagnostic report and any medical records to confirm they meet NICE standards (e.g., DSM/ICD criteria, sufficient detail and recency).

If the report is very old, was completed outside the UK, or there’s uncertainty (symptoms changed/worsened, treatment no longer effective, major life changes), we may recommend a re-assessment. We’ll let you know our decision in advance and advise the most appropriate next step.

If your previous diagnosis is accepted, we’ll confirm medication safety and suitability.|

• Stable on medication: we can continue your care under our service.
• Starting/adjusting medication: we’ll begin titration—most people need 3–4 follow-ups spaced 3–4 weeks apart to find the right dose (£165 per follow-up).

We’ll guide you through each step and fine-tune as needed.

We’ll discuss whether Shared Care with your GP is possible.

• If GP accepts: NHS prescribing takes over (standard NHS charges apply). We continue 6-monthly medication reviews for safety (£275).

• If GP declines: we can continue private prescribing. Repeat prescriptions are £45 each (medication cost payable to the pharmacy). We’ll also see you every 6 months for a medication review (£275).

Your clinician will outline a plan tailored to you—this may include ongoing prescribing, therapy, ADHD coaching, and reasonable-adjustment advice. If you remain private, repeat prescriptions are issued monthly or bi-monthly as appropriate (£45 each).
Please email us about a week before you’re due to run out so we can send the repeat-prescription form. We can also prepare documentation should you wish to revisit Shared Care with your GP in future.

Excellent

Based on 546 reviews

Is this the right service for you?

We want every client to feel confident that this is the correct next step in their ADHD care. Before proceeding, please take a moment to review the following important notes:

If your original ADHD diagnosis doesn’t meet NICE guidelines, we may not be able to continue your care and will recommend a full reassessment instead.

If you were diagnosed in childhood and have not received regular care since, you may require a new adult assessment.

Our clinical team will always review your information first. If we identify any concerns, we’ll contact you before the appointment and suggest appropriate next steps or alternative services.

We’ll never waste your time—or money. If this isn’t the right pathway, we’ll help guide you to one that is.

FAQs

Yes, you can self-refer. As long as you have a valid ADHD diagnosis from a qualified provider that follows NICE guidelines, you are welcome to begin the Transfer Your Care process with us. We’ll review your documents before the appointment to ensure everything is in place. No GP referral is needed.

Please upload your full diagnostic report (using DSM-5/ICD-10/11), any medication history, and recent BP/pulse/height/weight. If anything is missing we’ll let you know before your consultation.

Yes. If your diagnosis is accepted and your treatment is stable, we can assume prescribing and ongoing monitoring. If you need changes, we’ll discuss a titration plan (usually 3–4 follow-ups spaced 3–4 weeks apart).

Yes. If clinically appropriate, we can initiate medication titration after the Transfer consultation. Follow-ups are booked to find the right medication and dose. See the Fees table for appointment costs.

If a report is incomplete, very dated, or completed outside the UK, we may recommend a re-assessment to ensure we can prescribe safely under NICE standards. We’ll explain why and outline next steps before you book.

Shared care is at your GP’s discretion. We’ll supply the required documentation and liaise with your practice.
• If accepted: NHS prescribing takes over (standard NHS charges apply) and we review you every 6 months for safety.
• If declined: we can continue private prescribing and repeat prescriptions; see Fees for details.

For safety, you’ll have a 6-monthly medication review (or sooner if needed). Reviews remain required whether you’re on shared care or private prescribing.

We review documents before your appointment so the 45–60 minute consultation can focus on your current needs. If titration is needed, allow 3–4 follow-ups to reach a stable dose. Timelines vary depending on response and GP shared-care decisions.
