AuDHD Psychiatry´s 5-step process from assessment to treatment

Straightforward, supportive and strategic

Step
1

Book Appointment

· Fast booking· Simple forms · Optional family input

Choose your appointment online

Once you’ve booked, we’ll send over a few short forms to help your clinician get to know you.

If you’d like, someone who’s known you since childhood can fill in a short form too, it can really help add context.

Step
2

Get Assessed

· One-to-one conversation · ADHD specialists · Clear outcome on the day

Your assessment takes place over a relaxed video call that lasts around 90–120 minutes.

We’ll talk about your experiences, how ADHD traits show up day to day, and what you find most challenging.

The assessment follows NICE guidelines, and you’ll know the outcome before you finish the session.

Step
3

Start Medication

· Fast access · Personalised plan · Quick delivery

If you’re diagnosed, we’ll get you started on medication once we’ve received two simple things: your blood pressure reading and a short GP summary.

Your prescriber will talk you through the plan, confirm your starting dose, and your medication will arrive by post within a few days.

Step
4

Check In

· Regular check-ins · Ongoing support · Adjustments as needed

For around three months, you’ll have monthly follow-up appointments to check how things are going and adjust your dose if needed.

These sessions are supportive, practical, and focused on helping you find what works best for you.

Step
5

Shared Care Transfer

· Smooth GP handover · Continued support · Long-term stability

Once your medication and dosage are stable, we’ll prepare the shared care documents and contact your GP to take over prescribing.

If your GP doesn’t offer shared care, we’ll continue issuing prescriptions directly — so your treatment never stops.

Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We’re here to help.

Taking the first steps to understand your ADHD can feel overwhelming, but our team is ready to guide you with clarity and support.

Yes. If you’re diagnosed with ADHD, our prescribing team can start medication once we’ve received your blood pressure reading and GP summary.
You’ll then have monthly review appointments to fine-tune your treatment.
Most people begin their medication within a few days of that first prescribing session.

Our reports follow NICE guidelines and are routinely accepted by GPs for shared-care prescribing.
Once your medication dose is stable (usually after three months), we’ll prepare the paperwork and liaise with your GP directly.
If your GP doesn’t offer shared care, we can continue prescribing privately — so your treatment won’t be interrupted.

You’ll meet one of our experienced clinicians, either a psychologist or nurse prescriber, all registered with UK professional bodies and trained in adult ADHD diagnosis.
Many of our team also have lived experience of ADHD themselves, which helps make the sessions relaxed and relatable.

That’s okay, the assessment is designed to give you clarity, whatever the outcome.
If ADHD isn’t diagnosed, your clinician will explain why and suggest alternative routes for support or further assessment.
You’ll still leave with clear next steps and a better understanding of what’s been going on.

Most clients are seen within a week of booking.
From assessment to starting medication typically takes around two weeks, and the full shared-care process is usually complete within three months.
We’ll keep you updated at every stage so you always know what’s next.
