Welcome to your ADHD Journey

Why Choose AuDHD Psychiatry?

At AuDHD Psychiatry,

We offer private AuDHD assessments that evaluate ADHD and autism together: one joined-up pathway, clear answers, and practical next steps.

Our clinicians use gold-standard tools and a compassionate, evidence-based approach to provide an accurate formulation and a personalised plan for school, work, and daily life.

What Is an AuDHD Assessment?

A structured, clinician-led diagnostic process that evaluates ADHD and autism together, integrating developmental history, communication style, attention/executive functioning, sensory experience, and day-to-day impact.

Who Are These Assessments For?

  • Adults and adolescents seeking clarity where traits span both conditions.
  • People with previous partial or conflicting results who want one coherent formulation.
  • Families aiming to avoid multiple, fragmented appointments.

Why Is a Combined Diagnosis Important?

It reduces missed or partial diagnoses, clarifies how traits interact (e.g., hyperactivity with sensory sensitivities), and guides targeted recommendations for study, work, and home life.

How the AuDHD Assessment Process Works

An AuDHD diagnosis requires a thoughtful, step-by-step approach.

At AuDHD Psychiatry, we offer a combined ADHD and autism evaluation, offering structured interviews, developmental history reviews, and gold-standard tools to deliver a comprehensive, accurate diagnosis.

Diagnostic Criteria & Tools

✅Structured, criteria-based process

Mapped to DSM-5 and ICD-11, following NICE-aligned pathways for AuDHD.

✅ Screening Tools

Age-appropriate questionnaires completed by you and someone who knows you well.

✅ Interview & observation measures

Structured clinical interviews and, where suitable, observation-based tools.

✅Diagnostic Assessment Report & Feedback

A concise report with clear findings and a personalised plan for treatment and support.

What to Expect:

Clinical Steps in the Process

Complete our brief intake forms to outline concerns, milestones, education/work context, and daily impact. You may invite a partner, parent, or teacher to share observations so we capture different settings.

Attend an online consultation with a neurodiversity-affirming specialist. For adults, we explore attention and executive functioning, communication style, sensory profile, flexibility/routines, well-being, and strengths. For children, we review school functioning; for adults, we consider study/work and relationships.

Take part in a joint assessment using validated ADHD and autism measures. This may include age-appropriate rating scales, structured clinical interviews, observation-based tasks, and targeted cognitive/functional tests where indicated.

Receive a clear diagnostic report with outcomes for ADHD, autism, or both, plus tailored recommendations for treatment options.

Private vs NHS AuDHD Assessments

When deciding between private and NHS pathways, the main differences come down to speed, scope, and integration of care. Both have their place, but they offer very different experiences if you’re exploring ADHD, autism, or both.

NHS Assessments

  • Separate processes for ADHD and autism
  • Long waiting times (often 1–3 years)
  • No standard combined AuDHD assessment

An NHS route is cost-free but often fragmented. If both ADHD and autism are suspected, individuals are usually referred for two separate assessments, which can extend the timeline and make it harder to consider overlapping traits.

Private AuDHD Assessments

  • Faster access, usually within weeks
  • One joined-up process for ADHD and autism
  • Single diagnostic report with clear recommendations

At AuDHD Psychiatry, our private pathway streamlines the experience. By assessing ADHD and autism together, we avoid duplication and capture the full picture of overlapping symptoms. The outcome is a clear, integrated report with guidance on treatment, school or workplace adjustments, and ongoing support.

For many, the value of a private combined assessment lies not only in quicker results but also in the reassurance that nothing is missed and every aspect of their profile is considered.

What’s included in a private AuDHD assessment?

Comprehensive Clinical Interviews

An in-depth exploration of developmental history, daily challenges, and lived experiences covering both ADHD and autism traits.

Structured Diagnostic Tools

Use of gold-standard, evidence-based measures aligned with NICE and international diagnostic criteria (DSM-5/ICD-11).

Multi-Source Feedback

Input from parents, teachers, or partners where relevant to build a fuller picture across home, school, or work settings.

Personalised Recommendations

Clear feedback with tailored strategies for therapy, medication options, and practical adjustments for work, school, and daily routines.

FAQs About Combined Autism and ADHD Assessments

You’ll have an in-depth clinical interview, structured diagnostic tools mapped to DSM-5/ICD-11 for ADHD and autism, and collateral questionnaires from someone who knows you well (e.g., parent/partner/teacher) when helpful. Afterward, you’re given a report with a clear diagnostic outcome, differential considerations, and tailored recommendations for therapy, coaching, workplace/school adjustments, and ongoing support.

Our pathway is thorough yet efficient. After booking, you complete a brief intake, attend a 90–120 minute assessment appointment, and then a feedback session. Most clients receive their diagnosis and written report within 2–3 weeks, considerably faster than typical NHS waits.

Choose AuDHD assessment if you notice traits of both ADHD and autism. For example: lifelong social/ sensory differences alongside inattentiveness, hyperactivity, or impulsivity; or if previous single-condition assessments felt incomplete. A combined route avoids duplicate testing and captures overlapping presentations.

Yes. Reports from our registered clinicians are suitable to explain to others (employers, universities, training providers) when requesting reasonable adjustments. We can also liaise at your request with any other health professional involved in your care and provide documentation for access to services.

You do not have to obtain a GP referral to book with us. If you’d like GP involvement for shared care or letters, we can coordinate with them. If you’ve been assessed elsewhere and wish to ask to speak to someone else or seek a second opinion, we can review prior records and offer an independent, evidence-based evaluation in a different way.
