Supporting self-understanding through compassionate, neuroaffirmative care
Dr Regan Bailey is a Clinical Psychologist with specialist experience in Autism and ADHD assessments, formulation, and therapeutic interventions. With experience of supporting children, adolescents, and adults across mental health, neurodevelopmental, and physical health services, her work is grounded in compassionate, trauma-informed, and neuroaffirmative approaches that aim to help individuals better understand themselves.
Specialist interests: Autism & ADHD | Trauma & Complex Mental Health | Female Presentations | Hormones & Menopause | Emotional Regulation | Identity & Relationships
Her clinical background spans Adult and Child Community Mental Health Teams, Specialist Early Intervention in Psychosis, Forensic, Physical Health, and Neurodevelopmental services, supporting individuals with co-occurring emotional, behavioural, and neurodevelopmental needs. Her clinical approach integrates neurobiological, developmental, and psychological perspectives to develop compassionate, holistic formulations that deepen understanding of an individual’s experiences, emotional wellbeing, strengths, and support needs.
She has a particular interest in the intersection between neurodevelopmental differences, trauma, identity, and mental health, including how Autism and ADHD can present differently across individuals and throughout the lifespan. Her approach emphasises collaboration, curiosity, and creating psychologically safe spaces where people feel heard, validated, and understood.
Alongside her clinical work, Regan has experience in leadership, service development, and delivering training across mental health and neurodevelopmental services. She is passionate about improving access to psychologically informed and neuroaffirmative care that is tailored to individual needs.
She has conducted research exploring the impact of menopause on women with mental health difficulties, and has contributed to doctoral-level teaching on topics relating to menopause, psychological wellbeing, women’s mental health, and the influence of hormonal transitions on neurodevelopmental presentations, including autism and ADHD.
Her approach reflects a belief that assessment and formulation should provide more than diagnostic clarity — they should foster self-understanding, validation, and meaningful change.
