Making sure this pathway fits

This pathway is built for ongoing, clinically guided care, not a one-off prescription.

This is for you if

  • You’ve completed your ADHD assessment with us and are now moving into medication
  • You’re ready to complete your safety checks like GP summary and blood pressure
  • You want clear guidance on medication options and how titration works
  • You prefer structured dose adjustments rather than a one off prescription
  • You want support managing side effects and finding the right medication
  • You want a safe, clinically guided pathway with regular reviews
  • You’re open to shared care if your GP agrees later on

It might not be right today if

  • You need urgent or crisis support
  • You mainly want a quick prescription without monitoring
  • You live outside the UK and primarily seek medication supply
  • You’re unable to complete the required safety checks
  • You already have a current NHS or private prescriber managing your ADHD medication
  • You’re only looking for shared care and do not require ongoing medication management
  • You prefer informal advice instead of structured clinical appointments

FAQs

Questions about ADHD medication.

Quick answers to what people ask us most about starting medication.

When can I start medication?

Once your GP summary and blood pressure readings are submitted, we schedule your Initial Medication Appointment. Most patients start medication within 1 to 2 weeks after their assessment.

Why do I need safety checks first?

To make sure medication is safe for you. ADHD medications affect heart rate and blood pressure, so we need accurate readings and a brief medical history before prescribing anything.

What happens in the Initial Medication Appointment?

It’s a 45 to 60 minute session where your clinician reviews your symptoms, lifestyle, medical history and treatment goals. If medication is suitable, you get your first prescription at the end of the appointment.

How long does titration take?

Most people need around 3 to 4 follow-up appointments spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart, usually 6 to 10 weeks in total. Some need fewer, some need more. The goal is a stable dose that works without problematic side effects.

How much are prescriptions?

Each private prescription is £58, sent to your chosen pharmacy. Medication itself usually costs £50 to £95 a month, paid to the pharmacy.

How are prescriptions sent?

We send your prescription directly to the pharmacy you choose, and you collect your medication from there.

Will my GP take over prescribing?

Once you’re stable, we request shared care with your GP. Timelines vary because your GP decides: some approve in days, some don’t accept at all. If they don’t, we continue prescribing privately.

I was diagnosed elsewhere. Can I still get medication with you?

Yes, through our transfer of care pathway. A clinician reviews your diagnosis and records first, then, if appropriate, you’re invited to an initial transfer of care appointment.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book your ADHD assessment directly through our website.
